Hello Everyone:
The good news for this week is, the concrete slab-on-grade has been
poured, and it looks good. Hopefully, all the underground plumbing and
electric managed to get into it's proper location! (If you hear the
sound of jack-hammers a little later in the season, you'll know the
answer to that one.) The bad news is, we just passed the six month point
since construction began. At this pace, the only project with a longer
duration may have been when Noah built the Ark. (That reportedly took
120 years, so I remain hopeful we can still beat that job.)
Progress is being made in various areas, but honestly, the pace of
construction is far from what it should be. The contractor has
encountered a problem with a major subcontractor (mason) which cost the
job at least two full weeks. We are informed that issue is resolved, and
in fact the foundation blocks were laid. That action allowed for the
underground plumbing and electric to move forward, and the floor slab to
be poured on Thursday and Friday. The last week has been good progress.
If they can keep that momentum going, it will be very beneficial. Keep
your fingers crossed, and we'll see what this week brings.
It is very difficult getting definitive answers out of these guys, so
the best I can tell you is, expect to see action being taken to make the
foundation cut-thru's this week. Both the far north and far south
(existing) doors will be affected by these cuts. Temporary partitions
are to be in place prior to the work occurring. The new opening, which
will ultimately go directly through the existing Women's Bathroom, will
be cut from the outside only at this time (leaving the wall in place for
present). The remainder of that demolition work will occur after the new
Lower Level bathroom is in place. So... if your in the Ladies Restroom
sometime, and you hear a sound like "someone is sawing through the
wall!"... they are. Just not all the way through... we hope.
Got any questions... give me a call.
Got any complaints... call Wes.
See you Sunday. Ric R.
