Welcome to the Imagine Missions & Ministries Construction Update Website. Visit Often As We Will Strive To Put Up-To-Date Information Related To Progress Of The New Family Life Center

Hello Everyone:

This memo is a little late in getting out, which is because I'm behind on just about everything!

Once again, it has been a challenging week; and once again, our site continues to provide "budget landmines".  Soil related problems have run up an expense nearing $30,000 to date, and we are still finding more buried structures which must be dealt with.

With the north retaining wall now complete, and a significant portion of the site cut down to it's revised subgrade elevation, I am hopeful that most of the soil issues are now behind us. (The soil borings in the building "footprint" indicated good soil, so keep your fingers crossed, excavation will begin this coming week.)

The storm detention basin continues to elude completion, with this weeks "project stopper" being the "finding" of an otherwise unknown gas line, directly in the location of our new manhole at Audro. (The good news is we didn't "find" it with the excavation equipment!)  The manhole location was, of course, approved by all the governing authorities, requiring months of review process. Modifying it's location will not be a simple process, and may even require obtaining an easement from our utility neighbor (Duke).  At present, we're trying to find out who's line it is, why no record of it existed, and if it is still active. (If you feel moved to pray about gas lines, pray that it's abandoned!)

On the brighter side, the "new" useable land we obtained, with the completion of the north retaining wall, is taking shape. We did some "grade adjustments" at the west end of the wall, which increased our ability to raise the grade at the pre-school play area. This will greatly improve the usability of that area when completed. Fencing along the top of the wall will begin next week, as we keep the pressure on Van-Con to complete that area as soon as possible.

Keep the Building Committee in your prayers, as we will be meeting with the contractor on Monday to discuss cost escalation issues. It's a very complex situation, which will require calm spirits, as well as cooperation from all parties, to resolve in an equitable manner.

See ya Sunday!    Ric R.

ps: Get there early... parking is at a premium! (The lot is gone.)
